“My raft was made from what I can only assume had once been exquisite furniture and the broken door of a rich man’s home, assembled by chance to form a crude life-preserver for an opportunistic drowning man. I had no other memory, but I knew every carving in detail, since the horizon had yet to produce anything but patternless waves.”
lyrics
Welcome to the city of crystal waves and rocky shores,
underneath the rising sun, where I don’t see the land around.
Just look at the beautiful golden light,
upon the heavy stones that tower high from the ocean floor.
I cry and laugh,
I feel as if I’m home at last.
I feel as if I’m home.
Salva D’Or,
the flowers bloom in Salva D’Or,
the sky is blue in Salva D’Or.
There was a time in Salva D’Or,
the blue was gone from Salva D’Or,
and through and through in Salva D’Or,
the moon was guarding Salva D’Or.
The seagulls fly to the sun,
this is the place I’ve been lookin’ for all of my life
and they return with a shimmer and shadow,
and carry the sea to my eyes.
Salva D’Or,
the flowers bloom in Salva D’Or,
the sky is blue in Salva D’Or.
There was a time the city of gold
had just a window, Salva D’Or,
and for the blue in Salva D’Or
I’ll wait forever, Salva D’Or.
On the streets to the harbor,
hear the voice of the wind:
“No one’s left in my town!
They’ve all left, the ships are rotting down.
I’m tired of hearing nothing but my echo,
why have the people left me by myself?
By myself, by myself, by myself...”
Welcome to the city of silent waves and barren shores,
where it doesn’t feel like home anymore.
I walk through these stones, surrounding my eyes,
who fall upon a shadow that’s haunted my mind.
The clock, the tower
the prison tower,
that goddamn tower,
I hate that tower!
Salva D’Or, Salva D’Or, Salva D’Or...
I will seek a life beyond the rocky shore,
I will seek a life beyond the rocky shore,
I will seek a life...
The first time I heard the older but nevertheless wonderful album "The Portal of I" and later the 23 minutes lasting epicness of Painters of the Tempest that on it's own makes Citadel the greatest of the three very nice albums of this band, I was in love with the complex and wellwritten songstructures. I am waiting for the follow-up of Urn..... grote_smurf
